KS1 Reading Comprehension Booklet
Age Range: Key Stage 1 (5 - 7 years)
These short texts can be both read by the child and read to the child depending on reading abilities.
They are designed to help bridge the gap between "learning to read" (decoding words) and "reading to learn" (understanding meaning). They aim to move children beyond simply recognising words on a page to interpreting the text, making inference and fostering a love for reading.
